BIG Day of Giving is May 5

On May 5th, 2015, more than 100 communities across the country will gather for one BIG Day of Giving. With the hope of reaching millions of donors and raising over $100M nationwide, each community will rally support for the vital work of local nonprofits.

In 2014, the Sacramento region made history during the first BIG Day of Giving by raising more than $3 million for 394 nonprofits from over 12,000 donors  – and we were 2nd in the country among those participating in the national Give Local America effort!  We also proved that small gifts truly count! Over 60% of donations were between $25 – $50 and close to 1/3 of the donors were new to online giving. May 5 BIG Day of Giving

Pride in our region and last year’s experience lead us to believe that, together, we can reach the following goals on the BIG Day of Giving 2015:

  • To be #1 in the country in the Give Local America effort by raising $5M in unrestricted gifts , including:
  • $4.5M in online donations
  • $500K in Incentive Funds and Challenge Prizes
  • From 25K donors
  • For 500 local nonprofits

The BIG Day of Giving has been generously supported by incentive partners who are providing a pool of pro-rated incentive dollars to amplify every donation.  Donors can be assured that their investment will go farther!  Additionally, nonprofits can compete for prize challenges throughout the day and motivate their donors to help them win extra cash.  Outreach and Business partners in the community have been incredibly generous in their support of the BIG Day of Giving as ambassadors by getting the word out and encouraging others to give to strengthen our nonprofit sector.

The BIG Day of Giving is a collaboration of GiveLocalNow and your local community foundations: Sacramento Region Community Foundation, Placer Community Foundation, and Yolo Community Foundation.
