Volunteers Needed for Sacramento Homeless Street Count

Volunteers are still needed for the Sacramento Homeless Street Count. Join me and be part of this important event to help make a difference for our community. Hands on Sacramento needs volunteers for the biennial point-in-time Homeless Street Count scheduled for the evening of Thursday, January 24, 2013. Information collected from the street count helps us better understand why individuals and families are homeless so we can refine existing programs to best serve those in need. Documenting the condition and circumstances of our homeless population every two years helps guide important policy decisions and local resource allocation. The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development requires local communities to perform the Homeless Street Count to demonstrate federal funding eligibility that is used for emergency shelter operations and transitional/permanent supportive housing projects. Volunteers must be at least 16 years old and attend a mandatory training session. For more information and to volunteer, visit Hands on Sacramento.
