Supervisor Phil SernaThe summer heat is on. That means more people will be heading for local rivers to swim, wade, and recreate in and near the water. Besides bringing sunscreen, beach umbrellas and towels, remember all children under the age of 13 are required to wear a life jacket. Sacramento County Regional Parks, the American River Parkway Foundation, Sacramento Metro Fire Department, City of Sacramento, and the Drowning Accident Rescue Team (DART) remind everyone that safety comes first in and around our waterways. Please take advantage of the Kids Don’t Float Life Jacket program on the American River Parkway.

Visit the Regional Parks website for life jacket distribtion locations and water safety tips.
